Two people lost their lives in a fatal accident that involved a special needs bus in Anderson County. The collision occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., a vehicle crossed the center lane and directly hit Anderson County Disability and ADA special needs bus, the Anderson County Coroner’s Office reported. Highway Patrol informed the crash happened on Belton Honea Path Highway near Beeks Road.

Fifty-three-year-old driver, Sherri Depetrillo, died in the accident. One of the bus passengers, thirty-four-year-old Kevin LeCroy, also lost his life in the crash.

Eight people were transported to the hospitals in Greenville and Anderson, after suffering injuries, troopers said.

Depetrillo was heading to Belton Honea Path High School to pick up her daughter when the accident occurred, the coroner informed.

For now, the amount of injuries in the accident is not known.

South Carolina Highway Patrol’s Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team is still investigating the crash.
